Care

Care for the whole family, by stage

Four pages, one for each stage. Each says what a visit is, what we do not claim and when to see your physician first.

  • During pregnancy

A visit for the low back and pelvis, with the Webster technique described as a technique and nothing more.

    During pregnancy
  • Babies

A short visit in your arms, with light touch only if the exam supports it.

    For babies
  • Toddlers

Play first, then a look at how your child moves, with you beside them.

    For toddlers
  • Parents

An exam and, if suggested, an adjustment, with advice on lifting and carrying.

    For parents

What we do at a visit

  • Exam

A talk and a look at how you or your child move.

  • Adjustment

Light, specific pressure to joints of the spine and pelvis, only if the exam supports it.

  • Webster technique

A named technique for the low back and pelvis during pregnancy, offered as its own line.

  • Movement guidance

How to hold, carry, sit and lift with less strain.

Questions about care

What happens at the first visit?

We talk about your family first, then the doctor does an exam, and explains what they found and what they suggest before any care. A parent stays with the child the whole visit, and your child stays dressed. You can say no to any part of it.

Is chiropractic care safe for my child?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness or fussiness afterward is possible and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported with chiropractic care, and your doctor explains the risks to you before any care for you or your child. If your child has a fever, trouble breathing, a fall with a head injury, or you are worried, call your pediatrician or 911 first.

Will it hurt?

For a baby or toddler the touch is light, about the pressure of a fingertip, and a parent holds the child. Adults usually feel pressure rather than pain, and some feel sore afterward. We stop whenever you or your child needs us to.

How many visits will we need?

Your doctor decides after the exam and changes the plan as your family goes. We do not promise a number of visits or a result, and you can stop at any time.

Not sure where to start?

Call us. We will tell you what a visit is like and whether to talk to your pediatrician or midwife first.

  • A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
